I, too was 6 months behind on my mortgage with Countrywide and receiving default/foreclosure notices. They were impossible to deal with! I called Express home Solutions in Garden City, NY and, 3 months later, my mortgage was modified from an 8% ARM to a 5% fixed rate. The missed payments were rolled in and the house is safe from foreclosure. Give them a call, maybe they can help you.

Countrywide did our loan in 2007. They hounded us for all our information and we even had to give them 2 months worth of bank statements, so they could see every penny we spent. During closing, we were told just sign this and sign that, "you can read it all later, I have another closing right after this." Well we never really paid a whole lot to our finances, we just noticed money was getting tighter and tighter. We sat down with a list of expenses, our house payment is 1/2 of what we make. As soon as medical expenses came up, be got behind. Tried to talk to Countrywide sooo many times, either we get someone with an accent so think we cant understand them or we get a brick wall to talk to. We called them to attempt a modification, but turned them down, because it will only lower our payment by $58 a month. Needless to say, we refused it. We tried to arrange a short sale, but they refused tell us how much to ask for the house. They stated we would have to call them, when we received an offer and they would tell us if they were going to accept it or not. Now when is the last time you made an offer on a house, you didnt even have a ball park on? So we are walking away from the house. We are going to attempt to put it up for sale, so someone will assume the loan, because that is the only option left. But we are leaving it empty and making no more payments on it.

I too have been dealing w/ Countrywide since 12/2008. I call every 2 weeks and get the run around from several departments everytime. Today I contacted 1-888-995-HOPE. They passed me over to a non-profit counselor who gave me the best free advice in 6 months... Turns out the department to deal w/ is the Loss Mitigation department. They are the ones who are able to modify loans for the Home Affordability Program. First yr is 2%, then every yr after is it goes up 1% until it caps out at 6%. This is the same process as mortgage lenders are using but asking for $950-$1500 up front to do for homeowners. Hopefully this tid bit might help another out of their mess. Good luck to all of you. May this nightmare be over soon.

We were only a month behind after a long catchup and were given a mod-agreement from Countrywide. It didn't drop hrate but at least fxed t 10.5 rate for 5 years (big deal huh'?)
After about 2 weeks we Called the Hope Foundation (countryiwdes mod- arm) and they said they hadn't received it yet. After about two more (they said to call in two more) they still hadn't - again two more -then they said just send us a certfied check fo your payments. - No way I said, you can't even find the mod papers. So I called Countrywide - the girl said forget that mod agreement I would qualify for a much better one (all this time telling me - don't make a payment - save your money - we'll get you in a good mod agreement) She said I would hear from them with in the next two months at the lastest. I started calling after about 3 weeks and was told each week it hadn't been assigned to a negotiator and to call back.
Finally after about the full two months went bythey offered me a eighth less percent on my 80% loan ( .0125) and fix it - no mod on the 2nd mortgage and since they took 5 months to do this they rolled 6 or 7 months interest on top of the balance and because now my esrows where 6 months behind - those were rolled on top as well.
Result - instead of being only one month behind and the site of being current very close (we were behind because my wife was laid off 2 times last year) to out payment being $200 dollars more a month - ???? How does this help? Now I'm trying all the free mod-organizations I can find to help me renegotiate. Problem is - Countryiwde keeps telling me they have received nothing from any Mod organization and I need to do something or they will foreclose.. COUNTRYWIDE - You don't want this home back.. It's worth lots less than I owe!! Declining market an alol. 100% loan two years ago - They don't listen. One manager told me I should never have taken this loan out and they never held a gun to my head to sign the papers. No -but you DID SUGGEST THIS LOAN WHEN WE CALLED YOU!! SAID IT WAS A GET ME IN THE HOUSE LOAN. WE COULD REFINANCE LATER... GUESS WHAT - DIDN'T HAPPEN!

I feel you all.
Countrywide has done somthing so misleading and for lack of a better word caniving.
I have been a mortgage loan officer for 15 years and consider myself a savvy investor but they sure play dirty.
I got a NOD and a sale date for one of my rentals that Countrywide just bought for a deep discount from Greenpoint in December. They are what we call "scavenger" lenders. I contacted them and the customer service rep. put in for a loan modification request and told me there was no auction date to worry about even though I told her there was on scheduled, she assured me that there was not auction date and during the workout process they postpone auction dates anyway. So I am thinking they will do a loan modification for me well I didn't hear from them in the 10 days so I called to follow up and sure enough they denied loan modification due to the home being an investment property, well we all knew that from the beginning. No phone call to tell me it was denied and the auction date was going to occur. In fact over 3 weeks later no letter in the mail to tell me it was denied. In other words if I didn't call to check up I wouldn't have even known it was denied and the auction date. The loan is a non-owner occupied loan and they were fully aware of it in fact knew the rent I was recieving. They do loan modifications on investment properties too however, in my case they wanted to make money on the foreclosure as they bought the note at a discount for way less than what they can sale home for. So I had only 2 hours the next morning to try and stop auction or pay them $12,000, not good options. I tried to stop it but it happened anyway and since then have been trying to talk with a supervisor in the REO dept. af ter calls and emails no one has responded so here I am having to get an attorney. They mislead me and not to mention all the Respa violations in my loan documents in fact I am sure they didn't even have the original note in possession for auction. I know getting them to rescend sale and revert property back to me is a long shot even with my attempts to talk to them or even threaten legal counsel on them as they are just the worst every to deal with. I hope they get what they deserve in the end, countless law suits for all the wrong they are doing to the homeowner's out there. I feel for all the homeowner's who lose their home to a Countrywide foreclosure. We all need to get our loan documents audited and fight back with big guns.
Good luck

We too, have had nothing but heartache dealing with Countrywide for the last 18 months. We decided to refinance our adjustable rate loan in 2007 when we feared we could not afford to make the payments. We were initially told we would get a fixed rate when we purchased the house with the FHA loan in 2003, but when we got to the end of the process, no fixed rate. So, through word of mouth, we went to a friend of a friend to get help with refinancing into a fixed rate. What was initially offered as a monthly payment was not the case when the paperwork got further underway. We felt hurried and were basically harrassed to keep the process going by getting several phone calls at work feared that if we didnt get something we could afford, we would have to give up our first real home. We goto the table to sign and again the numbers changed. 70 dollars more than we were paying and 60 more than we were told it would be. Feeling pressured and disheartened and not being very knowledgeable of these events, we went on with it. Five months later we recieved a letter from countrywide with a total due over one thousand dollars. Almost 250 dollars more than our payment. This was supposedly do to the fact that someone, somewhere along the way had miscalculated 1,300.00 of our escrow balance, which left us liable to make up for. After speaking with numerous customer service reps who didnt speak English very well, we had to agree to a payment that was 50 more a month than what we were paying for three years in order to fix the shortage. I have since received monthly statements with a different amount owed every single month. I keep them all. I have called pleading for help but only get apologies for our struggles. To top things off, in July of 08, I was laid off from a job that I worked at for five years and loved. Still, no help from Countrywide. Now, our taxes have gone up and our payment, this month, is stated to be almost two hundred dollars more than we agreed to pay in the beginning of this refinance nightmare. The whole point of refinancing was to maintain a stable payment so that we could finally start to put a life together and live the american dream of owning a home in a nice area where our child can go to a good school and have better than we did. We are hopeful that now there may be a program that will help us to afford our payments while I still search for stable employment in this dreaded economy. It doesnt look so good, I don't have a great educational background and can't do more with that for having student loans to be paid that have not helped me in the work force whatsoever. So, I say to you that are trying to do the right thing and be a productive member of society and be proud to be an American, I feel your pain and wish you well in your times of heartache and distress. All I have is hope, and that at times is bleak. AMH

It doesnt look so good, I don’t have a great educational background and can’t do more with that for having student loans to be paid that have not helped me in the work force whatsoever.
I have had an on going issue with countrywide over two years ago I was in an accident and was out of work i missed a payment and called Countrywide for assistance what happened next should be a crime I was told that they would help refinace the loan and i would hear back in about 14 days after I faxed info. The 14 days came and went i called and a second person told me it would take about a month but I should not make a payment durring the restructure this went on for severl months i did send in a payment and like i was told it went into escrow. I called every few days and got the run a round finaly I talked to a man who said they had no info and that I should resend everything. Again i did this he said it would take about 14 days but they would call me a month later I called and was told that a board had decieded that they were not able to help and that my home would now go into forclosure unless I paid all the missed payments and the penelties and late charges. I told them what i was told and he stated we have no record. I was floored and was put in a no win situation he then said i could do a payment plan to catch up that would cost about 200 extra a month i figured what else can I do but when the papaer work was maild my payment went up over 5oo.00 when i called a very rude women said i must have misunderstood and that the insurence and taxes have rissen also so this is all they could do. I felt I had no choice with three young children and a small military disability check I would just have to work to find the money. I had paid over a year the new amount and have fallen so far into debt that my car got repoed and have sold almost every thing I own. I was late on one payment and have recieved over 50 notises in the last two months I have sent letters but they only wish to talk on the phone i got screwed befor this way so continue to mail them. The next two payment I maild have not been cashed and I have no where to go for help so I'm now like you but I'm sending payments but they are not cashing the checks?

My husband left my children and I in November of 08. He is not financially supporting the family at all. We had a mediation meeting regarding Divorce on Jan 19th 09. The divorce has been granted and is currently being filed with the court. I was able get him to agree to sign a quit claim on the deed to the house. Child support was not agreed upon as of yet so he is still not supporting the family.
Currently I am 2 month delinquent on my mortgage. February will put me at 3 months behind. My leander is Countrywide. My mortgage is 331,000 at 8.5 % interest which puts me at a 3,100 dollar a month payment. I am a teacher in the State of Florida and have been employed with the district for 12 years. I do make an alright salary however I do not make enough per month to pay the 3,100.00 mortgage payment.
I notified Countrywide as to the reduction of my income. On December 12 I fax my bank statements and pay stubs to the modification department. I was denied. I called Countrywide and they are reviewing my situation again.
I know if Countrywide would reduce my interest rate I could in fact make the mortgage payments. At 4.5% the payment would be around 1,600.00 a month which I can do without support from my soon to be X as I have no other debt.
I have also looked at the option of a short sale understanding that the bank must approve however I'm just not sure if that would be in my best interest with the tax implications. It is my understanding that due to the current economic condition of the United States several programs are becoming available for people like me. I just wonder what course of action I should take. Wait and see what Countrywide will do or put the home up on the market.
Is it possible to work with the lone modification department at Countrywide and have your home up for sale (short sale) at the same time???? Would having my home up for sale (short sale) hinder my chances of modifying my current lone into a lone that I can financially afford???
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Myhouse09
